Sensors on My Dashboard

Hello:

I have a limited 2003 V8 4 runner. When I got it the dash was in bad shape so I got a replacement dashboard. Seems the replacement (maybe it was not for a limited?) did not have the holes for these two bulb-looking sensors according to the mechanic who replaced it. He said that he had to cut the holes out for them.

Now that my evaporator core has been changed and the dashboard had to be removed and put back again, it seems the two sensors are not soundly attached. Seems I can pull them off and put them back on. Not sure if they were always like that but I noticed it because one was not on well and kinda tilted (you may be able to see the slight slant on the orange one from the photo.)

What are these two sensors or things for?

Thanks,
BDE

Do you mean for the DRL? Are BOTH of them auto light sensors, what is the difference between the two? Do you know if they can simply be popped off and back on and still work?

Thanks a lot.

I know one is for the automatic headlights. Id have to look up what the other is. As far as removing them, they may come out from under the dash..which may be a real task.

Okay, thanks, I will test it by covering it and seeing if my auto headlights come on. Now I am thinking I should be able to figure out what the other one is for, maybe the DRL lights? Could it be a thermometer I wonder.

Do you know if they should be removable? They can apparently come on and off like a pen cover and I wonder if that means they're broken.

I THINK One is the A/C Solar Sensor and the other is Automatic Light Control Sensor

The black is the automatic headlight, the orange/yellow is the solar.
