Rough riding 4runner

I just put some new 5000 ranchos on my 2001 4Runner SR5 4x4. The ride still is pretty rough. I do a lot of traveling and used to dig the "truck ride" but now I need to try to get a better ride out of it. Any suggestions will be appreciated.

Probably not what you want to hear, but those Rancho shocks ride rough! I have run those and traded them out rather quickly. If you can get your money back or you don't care, take a look at Bilstein shocks. Those ride very smooth. Also, you did not mention what type of tires you are running. The more agressive, the rougher the ride. If you are not off road all the time, look to a mild A/T tire or road tire if no off roading is done. Those are mostly the two reasons for a rough ride.

If you have lifted your truck by the torsion bars, you may need to back those off as well. OME (Old Man Emu) makes some fantastic suspension products that give small lift and fantastic ride.

Well, those rancho shocks are offroad shocks. So they will ride hard (they compress slower) on road. Its a tradeoff, so I would suggest you pick up a set of oem style replacment shocks. Like KYB or something good for the road. Make sure you got a good a/t / street tire at proper psi.

hehe. 2001 4runners have front coil springs, not T-bars.

I,too, have heard Ranchos ride pretty rough.

Thanks Guys, Exactly what I'm looking for in answers. I have a 74 Bronco I am trying to sale/trade on Pirates4x4. I have asked there but they frown on questions like this there and suggested that I try here. So far I'm pleased. I love my 3rd Gen runner and am glad I now have a place to come and ask questions about it. I guess I will have to get some new shocks. I do some off road, not much though, mostly at deer camp. I run a 31" BFG A/T's. I have a ton of miles on them and am about to replace them. I have been pleased with these tires they almost have 70K miles on them. I keep em balanced and rotated and run nitro in em. I also at some time would like to get a 2.5 lift for it just for sh%ts and giggles(looks). Any suggestions on that?
Thanks Again.
