rebuilt 22r running not so great..
new to the site checked up in the forums now and then, but anyways i gotta 22r rebuilt by a shop which was stupid but was really busy with alot and eventually got my truck back drove off couple days head gasket blown back to the shop they told me i needa put a fan shroud on it which is bs. but anyways they put a new head on i drive off going uphill motor started overheating all that so whatever tired of that shop spent to much money and its been wasting my time which is even more important to me. so heres a ? i pulled off my valve cover and i have dual roller chain and this shop left my valve cover pan thing on and my chain was rubbing the sh** out of it and im wondering if that will cause my chain to jump?? it has a rough time starting sometimes then runs fine then it overheats going uphill and just recently starting to overheat at idle after a while. im no mechanic i know my way around somewhat with motors but i think its my chain, right now in the process of plugging up my vacum lines all that and since im doing that im goin to attempt to check or redo my timing if i need to. i tried to find tdc im sure i got it there but the links dont line up?? but maybe i could be wrong and i gotta bump the motor more or turn the crank pulley? any advice would be nice and if you live in hawaii do nott take your tuck to island cylinder head waste money there.

wassup Brother was going to call ICH but kept putting it off. looks like i need to find a good machine shop.
Anyway overheating is not really a timing issue, and if your timing is off it would run bad all the time. wouldnt idle no power.
my guess is the head gasket is going again. so check for water leaking into your oil- milky dipstick or oil fill cap. water leaking into cylinder- steam out exhaust or radiator empty but no visible leak and last is exhaust on the water-bubbles in the radiator fill while idleing.
my input could be wrong goodluck off to post my problems 808state.
