Rebuild or just seals?
My valve stem seals seem to be going bad, dark stinky smoke and burns oil (1/2 quart a week), I'm a new owner and the previous said it was rebuilt, should I rebuild it again or just do valve stem covers?

From what I know, the valve stem seals leaking usually just causes smoke at start-up. If you have smoke all the time, it is more likely the piston rings are having significant leakage. Have you checked the compression?
Also, it is not a bad idea to post what vehicle you are talking about and the engine in it. You could put that info in your sig to save typing each time you post.

Obvious question have your crawled under it to make sure the PO didn't sell you a truck with a bad oil leak 1/2 quart a week seems like a lot. My last 85 with a 22re had a bad leak and the timing cover and went through about the same amount. Just trying to maybe save you some trouble.
