My rear drive shaft is locking in place. I think it locks up going into the rear axle but i really dont know. I cant drive it at all. just need some help figuring it out

sounds like a problem in the third member, or transmission.

in 4x4, does the front shaft also lock up?

yes but i took it out of 4 wheel drive but its still locked up

then it must be a problem within the transfer case/transmission

its hard to say given that we dont know exactly whats causing the problem internally, but if you take it to a shop, they will have to drop the transmission regardless wich (to them) is labor intensive. find out what the problem is and give it a shot yourself! theres tons of usefull information on here
