Its a 1991 toyota 4runner 22re it rattles at 3500-3800 rpm but doesnt majorly affect the truck. Any ideas?

 

Towards the front of the engine?

Sounds like timing chain.

 

5k on a rebuild

 

Does it rattle when you apply brake?

 

No just in that rpm range.

 

Cat converter cover?

 

I don't remember which side it's on, but I got a rattling when the jack under the rear seat came a little loose... No all the time either.. So it could be that?... Unless you're talking about something up front...

 

There is a heat shield on the catalytic converter, it could be loose.

 

Leaking exhaust can make some kind of rattling sounds. Might check that.
