Quick Suspension Question

Sooo...cruising around the forums, I have noticed a ton of people talking about putting coils in the rear. But, In my 89, i don't have coils, I have leafs and shocks. Should there be coils there?

And the reasoning for this question: I have a bit of sag in the rear that I am trying to eliminate, but also try and get an inch or two of lift (thinking of putting 33s on). What would be the best way to do this? Ive seen 2 inch add-a-leafs on summit for around $50, but would those last? Should I just replace the shocks in the rear? OR can i add coils???

Help.

That's the reason for the coils. It's called a ZUK mod. You might also call it an AAC(Add A Coil). You essentially get lift/reduce sag.

See this link for the inventor's website.
http://gearinstalls.com/

There's plenty of good info there and elsewhere, including here, ad nauseum.

However you could also get the same effect by putting AALs or lift leaf springs on instead. I've had my 2" AALs for 4+ years and they haven't faded a nanometer.

Hmmm..interesting. But wouldn't leaving the old leaf springs there have negative impacts on the ride? And what kind of flex would I expect from this?

I proceeded to search but I still have two lingering questions regarding the ZUK mod itself:

1) What kind of flex would I expect to accomplish from this?

2) Has anybody had problems with not securing the bottom of the coil spring to the bumpstop? I mean by just putting the spring over the bumpstop, without any holder of some sort
