Quick Question...

i'm a noob at engines so i have a question to ask.
i'm inspecting my TPS sensor to make sure that the resistance is on the right spot. but in the toyota factory service manual, it says that i need to use a vacuum on the throttle, just what is that vacuum? thanks!

Vacuum is created by the intake... but I am not really sure as to your question.

This is a great article on the TPS and adjustment:

thanks, this will be very helpful, well on the FSM manual, the first step in inspecting the TPS sensor is "apply a vacuum to the throttle." if that helps.

Probly the dashpot that slows the closing of the throttle. If you're checking the TPS then you need it at the fully closed position.

Yes, but it needs to be attached to the throttle body to do so.

Yeah, the 3vze has like NO room to get at the TPS bolts when the throttle body is installed.

Pull it off and bench test it. You can also clean out all the gunk build up.
