Problem while filling up at gas pumps?

I wasn't sure where to post this, so here it is. If a moderator feels it doesn't belong here, please move it to the right forum.

Anyways, when i try to fill up at my local AMPM, the pump constantly shuts off like as if my tank is full. I know for a fact it's not but it's like the pump dumps in more gas than the tank can take at once and it backs up causing the pump to shut off. Even on the slowest setting it does it.

Anyone else experience this? These are the same pumps i used with my old buick and it had never happened so I don't think it's the pumps. I can try other gas stations around town though if you think it is.

I guess it's not really that big of a deal but it's just kind of annoying that I have to sit at the pump and constantly release and squeeze the handle to get gas.

Yeah, i'll try a few different places. I drive a lot so i spend a LOT of time at the pump. This is just driving me crazy though. It's almost like a bad joke, the minute i turn my back or walk away from the pump i hear the click of the pump shutting off. lol

Atleast my girlfriend gets some enjoyment out of it.

I have had this happen with every car or truck I have owned usually it happens when there are multiple people pumping gas at the same time.

Mine does that sometimes if I put the nozzle all the way in, I usually fix the problem by pulling it out an inch or two

That could be a possibility but i've never had it happen to me in my buick or my girlfriend's 07 corolla and we pump gas at the same place. The last few times i've filled up it has been a little more busy than normal i suppose.

May not be your problem, but something to think about.
I know with some cars that have the fresh air drain on the charcoal canister pinched off (for diagnostic reasons) this will happen. I've seen a few cars come through the shop where the customer complains that it takes forever to fill the tank. Look under the car and there it is, a clamp on the fresh air drain.
