Reason: info correcting
What kind of Ebrake set up do you have with these brakes. What does the intermediate lever look like might be easy to then swap to the bell crank style ebrake system.
I wonder if the axles are the same then a simple switch of axles with backing plates to the more easily had brakes.
Otherwise it might be easier to swap the complete rear housing.
don't get hung up on the nomenclature that you are seeing in the manual.
Notice too that you are looking at a 2WD brake in the manual.. not that the 2WD and 4WD have any big differences.
Your rear axle has 6 lugs...unless someone stuck a rear axle from a 2WD Taco Prerunner(had 6 lugs) any other 2WD axle is gonna have 5 lugs.
Just ask for a rear brake service kit for your 89 4WD. It should have all the springs and misc parts that you need. I can still get them for my 81's rear brakes from AutoZone or any place like that

I wish it were that ez explain to me if I'm wrong
let me clarify my self drop zone the last 2 photos represent a contrast from what I have to what is common first my truck second a 95 4runner with the standerd brakes notice the placement of the wheel cylinder I couldn't put any other shoe on the hard ware and cylinder would have no ware to go as well :-(
But man o man do I wish that would work
[QUOTE=JKelly0117;52272524]Why do you have a spring over the axle? Zuk mod? Is your suspension stock?[/ing the sorry for not properly describing the photos of the last two the very last one is a 95 4 runner not my vehicle just put on there to show contrast
what is super weird is I went to O'reillys and they had the shoes and hardware kit for my brake system but not the adjuster and of course I'm missing one of the springs and the adjusting lovers are pretty warn the guys who have the truck before me use zip ties to space out the adjusted how redneck is thatI will post more photos but if anyone knows anyone who might know something about my brakes that would be awesome
