o-ring for distro cap?
#3
Thanks, XXXtreme, haven't been able to locate one yet, need to find the o-ring that goes on the heater hose/ intake connection also, neither were in the gasket set that came with my crate motor. they were the only gaskets missing, if I can find the sizes I can get them any Ideas?

that o-ring for that coolant tube I picked up from a local NAPA auto parts place. They should have a box of o-rings there you can match. Just take that tube in with you. I doubt they will have one large enough for the dizzy cap.
try toyotapartszone.com for the o-ring on the cap you can get the part number from them and give it to your dealer. Don't you just hate dealer parts counters. They can never find anything you need. And yet the dealers are forcing other places like toyodiy to get rid of their diagrams. lol. if I knew what year and stuff (22r/22re etc) your truck was I'd be able to look for ya.

I must say my Local dealer is great .
Sometimes trying to find things can be a challenge the way the catalog is set up.
Going down in person between the two of us we can figure out what it is I think I need.
All the 22rec engines I have seen I never saw one with the o ring under . the distributor cap. I guess it can`t hurt

I realize this is an old as dirt thread but so was my distributor cap O-ring and I didn't see the need to create a new thread. My 91 came with an O-ring gasket and I think the original was still on there. It was flat and water was actually getting in the distributor. I picked up a very similar one today at NAPA and took it to the dealer to compare the two.
The NAPA #151 was a little bit thicker and only cost 90 cents. I chose it over the stock one because it made the cap sit up just slightly until tightened down. I believe that O-ring will seal better than the factory one that they wanted $5.27 for. One dealership quoted me $7.44. For that much they can keep their gasket!

Thanks Odin for that information. I will check it out next time I get into one. Also the o-ring on the distributor shaft gets worn and leaks. I get mine frim Oreilly. They have a red box with several o-rings in it and I get the one that is closest to it. I do have to take a file to it some but no more oil leaks around the distributor shaft.

Shaving it is probably ok, but I probably would have kept looking for a better match. In another thread imsuperbleeder mentioned finding a match for the shaft seal at... NAPA. No mention of shaving it that I can remember.

If you know the size you can get them most industrial supply places .
Then for those strange sizes you can buy the material and make your own.
I do like the rubber boots that go over the cap
