not using bolts in egr pipe

Let me start off by saying, this is not my picture but this is the same predicament i am in. I cracked my old exhaust pipe and came across a pacesetter header and midpipe for $35, so i figured what the hell. My question, will i be fine to run the header and egr pipe without the two bolts that hold the egr pipe on tight? Second question, after my exhaust pipe broke, the front part of the exhaust was compeltely seperated from the back half. My 02 sensor was not "reading" any used gases but i never recieved a cel or anything. Can any1 explain to me what is going on there?

First of all, thats not the EGR pipe Its the manifold for the Seconday Air Injection.. Also refered to as the PAIR system. Another smog thing. Look it up
Second, I have been running my Pacesetter header without those two bolts for about 6K miles. I just lathered the two connecting flanges with high temp FIPG.
