Roger, that way worked sweet after I had it off once. Little screwdriver in the cut of the washer.

give it a good shot of pb blaster, then after about 10 minutes, one good solid hammer blow to the end of the stud will send the cone washer flying. not enough on the hammer blow it won't move, too much you will mess up your threads.

4Crawlers method is a little more tedious, can get frustrating if they are locked up pretty good, and cause next to no damage.

Sounds like you are already frustrated so I guess that doesn't play into your decision.

BTW, read up on the rest of 4Crawler's site. You can find just about anything there.

good luck

Ive been soaking them everyday in BG for a week now and just did again. The studs have been taking a real beating. So much that I have deformed the nut by bashin it. 3 cones are not even recognizable from hitting the groove with a hammer/screwdriver. Is there away to remove the hub with these still in the hub?

Lots of good info here if you will learn to search for it. Cone washers are like a woman, they respond best to a caress, not a beating.

glad to beat them. make sure your stud threads are OK before you put it back together...probably just replace them while you have it apart to avoid any more headaches
