nelp with ect button
First just want to say how great this site is!!!
I'm sure there is someone out there that can answer my question. I have a 86 4runner that is my daily driver has been for about 6 years now. The guy I got it from said his son had a new transmission put in. I have I always drive it with the ect in power mode. If I put it in normal it revs higher before shifting gears. shouldn't it be the other way around. I think it should rev higher in power mode to help if you are pulling a load. Is it possible the switch is wired backwards. Or is it working the way it should. I also get better gas mileage in power mode.

Should shift later at higher RPM. Sounds like something is wrong. Could be wired wrong but I think it is more complicated than that. It might be as simple as your shift cable needing an adjustment. As to gas mileage you should notice a slight drop in mileage when it is activated.
