Need leaf spring help
#3
I have no clue... but YES, WELCOME TO YOTATECH! Don't worry, you'll get people to chime in on how to approach this properly. I have seen a few HUNDRED threads on here where guys were struggling with which springs/leaf packs, etc., .... and MANY of them had "SOLVED" posts... but never bookmarked em... Still haven't found my SFA donor rig! lol.
Best wishes, Baraged!

The 4runner currently has 47in long 3in hd tg lift springs the springs seem too short the shackles are inverted and axel is pushed forward and the bump stops are off about 2 1/2in . I talked to the guys that built the truck and it was a reputable shop they informed me that it should have 4in tg flex springs wich are 47in as well so at this Piont I'm COMPLETLY confused !!!

Can ya get a pic of whats going on?
I'm assuming they installed and aftermarket front spring hanger, probably a trail gear.
Did they have to cut out shackle hanger holes or is your 4runner an 85?
Your spring hanger could be too far forward if it is an aftermarket one.

Rear shackles are mounted to the bottom of the frame no holes and front mounts are pushed forward about 3/4 in as recommended for the 4 and 5 inch tg flex springs so I'm hoping it's as easy as swapping the 3in springs for the 4in flex spring . I've come to the conclusion that the 52's will be to long with out moving anything

The front shackles should be mounted through the frame, not below it. Whereabouts are they welded on below the frame? The issue could be as simple as them being mounted too far rearward. Pics would really help. Also, anytime that the axle is relocated, the bumpstops will need to be moved to line up.
The 52's can be done, but you will need a pretty long shackle to maintain an acceptable shackle angle. I run 51" springs in front with a 7" shackle.

Sounds like your reputable shop was cutting corners.
What makes you think swapping in springs that are the exact same length will fix your problem?

Wasn't my reputable shop I purchased it this way I'm just trying to get it right .....the guy that owned the truck turned a few wrench on the truck that he shouldn't have is what I think the biggest problem is .....but I think your right the shackle should be through the frame but I'm not sure this sas kit was for a 3rd gen trail gear doesn't list one for a 3rd gen I think it goes up to a 95 2nd gen and then there is a taco sas kit maybe this is why they are mounted on the bottom instead of through the frame ??? In not sure ??? The shackles are pretty close to the bend of the frame though ......
