When I started my truck this morning the accessory belts were all seized, squealing, and started smoking. After taking all three of them off, the central pulley connecting to the fan clutch and the water pump was the one that was seized. The fan spins freely when I rotate it, but that pulley is completely locked. Is there an easy way of telling whether I need to replace the whole water pump or if I can get away with just the pulley?

 

Not the water pump.

Water pump on 3vz is operated by the timing belt.

You need this::Mint/NOS genuine OEM Toyota Aisin/Koyo fan bracket, V6 3.0 3vze | eBay

Maybe...... There's one for early 3vz with spring type timing belt tensioner, and a different one for hydraulic type tensioner found in later 3vz models.

Huh. The diagram I had pulled up marks that central pulley as being the water pump, but looking at parts, it's wrong. Thanks

A '90 model 3vz is gonna take the early type fan bracket.
