need help asap

well yesterday i was hauling somenthin for work and fliped my hazard lights on. after they were on my brake light wouldnt go off and my battery light came on. i turned them off and battery and brake light was still on. then i was driving to my gfs house last night and i notice my gauge lights was really dim. i dropped her off and started home. then i noticed my speedometer was not workin. i stopped at a stop sign and it idled real bad and the whole truck was shaking. so i took off and i hit 2nd gear and it bout died. i kept drivin and it finally just died. i had to get a tow truck to take it to the shop. i couldnt look under the hood cuz i didnt have a flashlight. so to you more experienced guys, does it sound like my alternator? i think the alternator went out then i was jsut runnin off my battery. any help would be great. oh yea its a 95 pickup. thank ye

Sounds like alternator brushes are worn out:

Check the obvious things first, ie the belt.

My 86 Shredded the belt and I just assumed it was the alternator. Several miles down the road my temp gauge was nearing the red, but i got her home before it got too hot. New belt and I was right as rain.
