sounds like you bought a truck with a poser locker switch... pop the switch out and see if there are even wires running from it...
Lastly as mentioned before, check with the dealer...

hell you can check your locker status a lot easyer than messing around with the dash, just stick your head under the truck and look at the rear third.
if it looks like this...
shown with optional skid plate for the solinod
your golden!

First of all, make sure that you are not moving when you hit the button, and also try putting it reverse to help it engage. All else fails you're looking at removing your e-locker to relube everything. Troubleshooting from there it goes downhill.

Yea they are strictly aftermarket. That's what I thought, but then I kinda misunderstood snap-on when he said "optional." I took that as meaning an optional accessory from the dealership.

There is a good chance that the locker has never been used so it may take a few tries to get it to lock. First make sure you are in 4LOW. Hit the button and just drive for a bit, and drive in reverse as well. Try that a few times and see if it will lock.

Well i check the 3rd member for a locker and i didn't see anything similiar to the picture above. i'm still scratching my head on this one. the stupid switch is wired and all. what's your guys thought. maybe a picture of what a trd locker on one of these tacoma's would be a good reference. thanks and i'm sorry if i'm a moron.

Did you look at the front of your diff, or the back? The locker will be on the front of the diff, so you might have to crawl under the truck to see it. If not sure take a picture and post it here!
