Hi there i have 88 toyota 4x4 i put a 87 22re engine in it now i have hesitation when driving and when shifting gears.. Its seems the motor is fighting against it self.. i nevert changed the mass air flow sensor from the 88 to the 87 could this be the trouble?

 

It depends on how you went about switching the motors. Did you leave the tranny in or take it out? Did you swap computers? o2 sensors are in different places from 87to 88 is it plugged in? I did a swap last year 87 22re to 88 runner. I left tranny in, switched computers, and made sure the o2 sensor was working. all went well, running without a hitch
