If you've got a 4WD, 'wheel it. Even if it's "only" IFS.

If you've got a 2WD, put in a locker and 'wheel it. Laugh heartily as you go through spots where open/open 4WD's have trouble and when their higher insurance bills come. When your skills or desire get beyond where a locked 2WD will go, you can either do a 4WD/SFA conversion, or sell it and get a built 4WD.

I just think it's silly to tell someone "sell your 2WD and throw down an extra couple grand on a 4WD". Yes, 2WD is going to have a hard time in rocks, etc - but it will be plenty great on trails and dunes, and may be all you ever need if that's all you want to do off road.

sell it, buy a 94 or new 4runner (make sure nothing major is wrong). if you've still got money left, drop a locker in and it'll be one pimp dd/weekend offroader.
