It does.

You just need the custom bell housing

Either wait for a while til superrunner on pirate4x4 markets his bellhousing.

Or have one shipped from austrailia today.

cmon, everyones doing it.

Mine seems to be either blown slightly or running very rich. my MPG dropped drasticly and started smoking the way you describe and it sputters for about 5 minutes at start up.

Yup - she was running rough for a day before the smoke. I thought it was the spark plug I still hadn't gotten to and then another plug went. If you have lots of white smoke with that sweet smell of anti freeze it's the head gasket. Ask me how I know. LOL

***************
So I am not opposed to rebuilding the 3.0 per say but honestly with the strain that engine goes through with me on 35's and 5.71 gears I think I'd just blow a head gasket again in a few years. I mean the engine had JUST been rebuilt when the 5.71's and 35's went on. And it lasted 2 years....

Molly,

I've done my swap (although I have developed a couple of issues that need to be addressed). The difference is amazing, and it is a reasonably easy swap to do, as I'm sure that you are aware. I'd certainly be willing to offer whatever help I can, since I'm in the Metro area most weekends. Let me know if I can be of assistance, please!

How much did it end up costing? Did you use the ORS kit?

Oh I know russ.. way to well. LMAO. I remember now. Yes all the help I can get will be appreciated once we decide what to do!

We are going to go pick up our donor 4runner (goldmember) tonight. We bought her with a bad engine before my headgasket) so we could have donor parts for everything else. Too bad I didn;t know my HG was gonna go!

TC,

I'm into mine for about $4,000 to $4,500, but, as Elvota pointed out, there are ways to reduce the costs considerably. I did use a full ORS kit, plus their crossover pipe, so there's lots of room to save from that situation.

If you can find a good 3.4 with the ECU and other goodies for a decent price, then your biggest hurdle will be with making or buying a conversion harness. The rest of it is pretty easy, albeit a bit time consuming.

Let me know if I can help!

Raj

So here is what we are now thinking:

Do the 3.4 swap but transfer Tippy to manual since, we have a manual transmission and crawl box. Then we will also put the crawler in. The money I save by going to manual (Automatic 3.4 swap is about $500-$700 more expensive) I will use to buy the crawler adapter I need. Then sell the auto tranny or whatever.

We are still just in the idea phase... but that's where it is at.
