I also need to know the spline count of my axles. If anyone knows that on the fly.

Keep in mind that a cluch posi-trac (also called a limited slip differential) is not a locker or even close. Here is a video that might help you understand the big difference. It covers open diff. posi-trac (limited slip) and locked diff. [/FONT] . By the way I am not pushing the brand of locker in the video. You can decide on the many different brands. I am just offering an explanation of the difference between a locker and a posi-trac system.

I'd go with a detroit over an LSD.

I'd avoid an LSD. Since you're driving an auto you can go with a "lunch box" type locker (Aussie, Lockrite, and I think Spartan) and never even know it's back there until you need it.

dunno why the spline count would matter with the exception if your 4runner is a 2WD, any dealer should able to get your the correct locker when you give them vehicle type.

anyway-your axle should be 30 spline, I am pretty sure 2WD (at least older ones) were 27 spline.

I second the Aussie style locker. If you can turn a wrench left or right you can install a lunch box locker yourself (with a dose of common sense and ablilty to follow instructions)
