lock right vs no slip vs detroit

Time to decide on which is better for my daily driver. I'm going to regear it from 3.58 down to 4.11 (maybe 4.3?), and it'd be best to put in the locker at that time. This will only be in the rear.

I've read and read and read reviews about each locker. Almost all of them are positive. The thing that I worry about is street manners. I don't want to have a constant popping and tire squeal. Right now, I'm leaning toward the no slip, but any comparison between the other two options would be appreciated. Toughness, wear, trail manners, etc.

95 Tacoma, 2.7L, 30" Hankook Dynapros, stock everything.

you got it all wrong... dont put any of them in

Go with an Aussie... reliable, quiet, and reasonably cheap.

From what I've read the Aussie is a stronger knock off of the detroit. But the problem with both is that I think they might be difficult to deal with on the street.

Maybe I should rephrase the question: Am I going to hate the powertrax lockers because they don't perform as well off road or not be as reliable?

I would go with the aussie. Heard nothing but good things about them. Just cant get on the throttle around sharp corners i guess.

you cant get on the throttle around turns with any locker... lol its not just the aussie... also, use extreme caution when driving in the snow with a locker... bad things happen to good people

Anyone have experience with an aussie in the front. How bad does it affect steering?

What?

What do you mean by you wont notice it? On or off road?

One more thing. According to Yukon's site, they only have an aussie for the front of the Tacoma. I need an 8" 30 spline. How come I'm not seeing it?

I mean the engagement/disengagement. That's why I originally said the no slip. I like the idea of a smooth transition.

I ran a lockright in my 69 gmc 4x4 for over 5 yrs.I still have it and plan to transfer into the first truck it will fit. The only problems i had was parking lots,it sounded like the drive train was going to come out.You are suppose to have no more than a half inch of play in the drive train, mine had about six inches. as far as corners go just do the opposite of what you are doing .if you are accelerating and it is pushing you, just let off. and if you are on a slope in 2wd on slick ground and the front end hits some resistance the rear can come around and go down hill fast.

I have read too many good reviews on the Aussie to get anything else. I will definitely be getting one for my 2wd. A more polite change in road cornering will make the locker almost silent from what I hear. You can't beat the price either.
