Lift Kit, should I use blocks or add a leaf?
I'm looking at putting a Revtek 3" lift on my 2005 taco I'm wondering if I should put blocks or add a leaf for the rear lift. Which is more ideal for off-road?

Your gunna get mixed reviews on blocks here, more towards the don't use them spectrum. I'm running 2" blocks now, mainly since I have to to keep my 63s up with my 4" springs up front. All they are, are for height and when used improperly are a major safety hazard and put alot of stress on the springs.
AAL's will stiffen your ride, and eventually wear out and your back to "stock".
Lift springs are the best choice b/c your not depending on any add-on's, no extra unneeded stress points on the springs. And you'll get more performance and predictability out of springs
Plus you will look cooler at the mall

are the OME Dakars something I can add on later if I go with the AAL for now?
I'm liking the idea of not putting extra stress on the springs though. Besides the Dakars what are some other really good ones out there?

It leads to a lot more spring wrap when wheeling. Think of it like adding a long breaker bar to a lug nut compared to trying to break a lug nut loose with a 1/4" drive ratchet.
When torque is applied to the rear axle, the pinion wants to walk up. The springs keep it from doing that. Add a block, and its MUCH easier for the springs to wrap up since you just add a breaker bar to the application.
For street use a block is okay. For offroad use is a no-no.

I'd get a better quality lift kit period.
Front spacer lifts are going to ride like anyway so blocks or aal in the rear is irrelevant here.
With a real lift, coils and shocks up front, get an aal for better ride with a load/towing and blocks for looks. If you are gonna wheel, new leafs and shackles.

I got 3.5" blocks cause I didn't have much money at the time and I figured I'd run 'em untill I broke something, that was 2 years ago... Seems pretty cost effective, at least till they break!
I can't wait for some new 4" leafs though, having said that!

on an '05 Taco (I miss mine:pissed) the OME Dakar are about the only way to go.
I have also heard of a few people (on ttora.com) having custom packs make by National spring
Not sure if Deaver makes springs for '05 + tacos yet
axle wrap from blocks can be noticable...got rid of the 3.5" blocks on my current project and the right improved a lot
