Lift idea ?s

ok, so i have blocked and shackled the rear of my truck but the front is still low, so i was wondering instead of buying new leafs for my truck, could i buy some cheap junkyard leafs off a full size or just a bigger truck and put them on my little toyota, would it give me a little bit of lift seeing as its on a smaller frame, and how hard would they be to bolt up

honestly, just wait and buy springs. Springs for a heavier truck are going to ride rougher... Springs are not that expensive, when it comes down to it.

Also, while you are at it, ditch the blocks.

If you get 63" chevies for the rear, you can move your rear springs up front and get approx 3" of lift. You would have to cut and re-weld the spring hangers.

I honestly couldn't tell you what would happen. I would think that they are too long to try on the fronts...

Taking the blocks out will level it out. Save up and get some GOOD springs.

What size tire are you trying to run?

200$ is cheap, compared to most other trucks your '85 could easily get 5" with under a grand and up to 8" if you don't mind body lifts. And this is without blocks.

if i were you i would buy some of those chevy springs, ditch your blocks, throw those chevys under the rear and put your rear springs up front, this will give you quite a bit of lift.
im trying to buy a lift here too and i was gonna get rough country cause theyre cheap but i decided on pro comps for a little more. the rough countrys ride like crap, dont handle any weight, and dont flex worth a damn. my advice, dont get cheap stuff.

it would move the front axle farther back. because of the center of the spring being so far back instead of under teh fenders

well if your replacing your 46" or 48" springs with 63" ones, you will need your front hangers waaaaay out there to keep your axle in a reasonable place, youd be able to see the front hangers from in the cab!!
