Idler Arm Zerk, Where to put it?
simple question.
i'm likely going to rebuild my idler arm, just gonna use the crappy plastic bushings from the dealer, and i'm going to drill and tap for a Zerk fitting so i can keep them greased to help prolong the life of the bushings.
But where would be the ideal place to put the zerk? halfway inbetween the new bushings? or put one close to each end?
also, does it matter what kind of grease i use on my truck? for everything i mean....or atleast everything with a Zerk Fitting.
thanks!

They're not crappy... They just don't have an infinite service life...
IMO, I'd forget the Zerk and just replace PRN.
...jeezus. Toyota's have a lot of crappy stuff on them to be as good as they are...
Crappy T-chains
crappy axle seals
crappy hubs that need Zerks so you can grease them b/c the crappy axle seals won't change themselves...

what does PRN mean? i'm drawing a blank...
yes i know they're not actually crappy, since mine probably lasted 160,000 miles...with probably atleast half that with heavy 33's.
but if you could grease them every now and then...then they should last quite a bit longer?

I just put mine 1/2 way between the 2 bushings facing forward on the truck and filled the cavity - if you have an idler arm brace, make sure it'll clear the zerk before you drill and tap the hole
