Huge locker FAQ and numerous threads with numerous choices from welded, spool, lunchbox, e locker, to ARB. Regear and lock together. $250-350 with bench install. Locker and gear prices are easily searchable. Depending on what you buy it might be cheaper to buy prebuilt unit and swap.

What are you planning for gears? 4.56? 4.88? Might as well go low so you dont have to do it again. What size tire do you see your self running?

well i was thinkin 33x10.5s, i still wanna drive her everyday. what gears would match the 33s?

after doing some reading i think i should build a rear axle, newer year axle. put gears and a lunchbox style locker..

I have a 94 4runner v6 4wd AT and I have 33x10.50 stock gears and I feel very underpowered expecially going up mountains or even hills haha on the freeway... I don't know, but would like to kno, wat the ratio is because I would also like to know wat gear I should jump to.. and money is tight these days so somethin not too pricey! Idk if it makes a dif between his 4unner and mine

Daniel- 4.88s go great with 33s! and the newer axles are 3" wider. Besides the added track with (then you need to do something about the front) there the same.

Skeezy- check this site out to know what gears you have.

http://www.brian894x4.com/Gearratiosanddiffs.html

And welcome to YT!! Remember that you have to re-gear the front too if you want to keep your 4wd. Yout 95 has a different type of front suspension (IFS) which uses a smaller r&p but the general idea is the same.

Good luck and read up!! There is alot of good information on here, you just have to look for it.

Haha thanks RE RE I've been a long time fan of toyotas, I had heard that for 5 sp tranny 4:88 would put 35 back to stock right? U think I should do the same with my auto tranny? Ill never back down from a hole or a trail and I don't want to feel bogged down, but I wanna keep the driveability for the road you kno?... that's why I was thinkin LSD front rear but wasn't sure gear size or where to buy it from

if you want good drivability, just lock the rear IMO, and go 4.88

aussie is the way to go if you dont wanna get $ crazy. having the back locked is fine but if you plan on doing alot of trail use lock both. also if you mess with the front go ahead and rebuild your knuckles because they will leak gear lube if you don't. im about to run 5.29's with 32's. but if you use your truck on the hwy alot i'd stay within the 4.88 to stock range.

If you lock the front and drive on the street with the hubs unlocked in 2 wheel drive then driveability wouldn't be affected correct?
