how hard is it to switch boddies on 1st gen 4runners

i have an 85 and a 86 4runner my 86 has sunroof, straighter body, rear air,and still has a windshield.my 85 got stolen and they broke out the windshield and beat the body with rocks a sticks.i was wondering how hard it would be to change over the bodies.if its a real pain in the ass then ill just buy a new windshield and apply some bondo.i hate ifs so i dont care if i strip the 86.and is it very easy to take the windshield out of one and put it in another.

not hard, just takes time and you will need something to lift the entire body off one onto the other. You will likely need all the wiring, etc etc from the 85 transfered into the 86 body.

Like I said, not hard but a very time consuming venture.

just remember to LABEL EVERYTHING!!

Huh. Good to know. I'd always assumed that the bodies wouldn't match because of the frame differences. Sweet that they do.

You've got your work cut out for you. You'll have to strip the harness out of the body, but shouldn't have to cut it.

x2 on labeling EVERYTHING!

why dont you just take the solid axel from the 85 and swap it onto the 86, i think that would be better to do.
