Greetings and Salutations from the new guy.
Hello, All. So it looks like I'm the new guy.
I don't yet own a Toyota, but I'm in the market for my first, which I hope to be a 90-95 standard cab shortbed 4x4 pickup with a 4cyl. I had a few questions though.
I've heard bad things about the 3.0L V6. Are they really that bad?
All the ones I've found for sale with a 3.0 seem to be priced much lower, which I generally take as a bad sign.
I've been scouring my local craigslist ads for about a month, and I have had zero luck finding a 4x4 with less than 170,000 miles, in good shape.
Are these rare to find with lower mileage, or do people just not sell the lower mileage ones?
Assuming I find one in good shape, with say around 100,000 miles, What would be a fair price for one? I've seen asking prices anywhere from 3000 to 10,000. I assume the latter is a bit inflated.
Any potential trouble spots on these to inspect before purchase?
What kind of mileage should I expect with a 4x4 shortbed standard cab pickup with stock suspension, 4 cylinder, and a 5 speed manual?
Thanks!

Already own a Mitsubishi truck, but it blew a headgasket last week, and is being sold to a friend today. That leaves me with one truck left, a 1990 Chevy 2500 that gets 10MPG. I'm commuting 110 miles with that every day, and the gas is killing me.

Best trucks on the market. Only thing I'd own next to my truck is a jeep. I've heard somewhere that Tacomas get the worst mpg for their class, but it's worth it. I get about 15-16 city and like 18-20 highway.

My chevy is fun to curse at, does that count?
I was thinking about a Jeep Comanche as well, and it was a tough decision, but I think Toyota wins out in the end.
