Hey so im still new to my 94 4runners front cv axles and im currently replacing both of them. I currently have the front 6 bolts off the end of the brake disc and got the hub open that exposes the end of the axle and what i believe to be a c-clip. now just one question, how do i go about getting the clip off so i can slide the axle out to put in the new one?

 

It is a snap ring, and you need a snap ring expander. According to the FSM that is..

It's not actually a snap ring - no holes. Snap ring pliers help, but frequently slip off - the ones that make it easy have wide jaws that grab the whole slanted face.



If you go to Sears, they are in the automotive section tools

 

They're called lock ring pliers.

 

I use snap ring plyers and some really thin screw drivers to pull it out.

They are surprisingly annoying!
