gears???

gears???

how do i find out what gear ratio the truck i am looking at has... its an 82 5 speed 4x4 and the 22R.... i havent really looked but i figured id ask specifics like is it in the vin number or is it on the axle housing? or in the manual??

i reserched and found that it can have from 3.90 to 4.38 in the axles i just wanted to know if it was stamped or in the vin or somthing because of how broad it was...

search for gear codes and locations they are usually on the door jam or under the hood. I only say this because i was asking the same question last year and got the same response from members. It led me to searching for the info and finding it a short while later. But yeah search for gear codes and you should get the info you're looking for.
