gear advice

so, once again, I need suggestions or answers, I come to yall! the more knowing then I.
my lil 86 Toyota pu, w/22r engine, is on the verge of needing to be regeard. Honestly, more so in need due to lift and tires that I put on it..a skyjacker 4" suspension, and micky Thompson 33x12.5x15's.
im thinking about going to 5.29's, but not sure what is needed? Ive looked at some that say 7.5", and others that say 8". ive looked at Yukon gears, and read about others having Spartan. im not planning on sinking a ton of $$ into it, but id rather not go so cheap that it has to be redone shortly down the road.
I mainly use the truck for short trips to town, and checking cattle, and of course hunting. so, im all open for suggestions.
THANKS IN ADVANCE

If you look at the gear ratio charts, they say that for 33" tires you should be running 4:88's. I'm running 4:88's in my 88 Samurai with 33x10.5x15 BFG KM2's and for my rig that's about perfect. However, I've got a full Toyota powertrain as well as a 150Hp 3RZ, R151F transmission and 23 spline transfer. I was originally running 35x12.5x15 Goodyear Kevlar MTR's and the Sammi handled those well. I love the Kevlars and would have stayed with them if they made a 10.5. I was trying to stay under the Cop radar and with the 12.5 there was just too much tire sticking out past my fender flares.
My son has a 98 Tracker 1.6 16 valve with toy axles and 33x12.5x15 swampers and he is running 5:71's and 4:24 transfer case gearset. With only 96 Hp the taller rearend gears and the lower transfer case gears his setup seems to work well.
I guess proper gearing has a lot to do with your HP at the rear wheels and the type of 4 wheeling you intend to do. In the 90's when Toyota started offering 31" tires as an option, they put 4:30 gears in the manuals and 4:88 in the autos.

33s and 4.88 gears puts you back to stock feel. I had the 33x10.50r15 BFG KM2s and stock 4.10s. It was very long-legged. I swapped in factory V6 4.88s and they are perfect. I just put on 35" Toyos and I will still stay 4.88 since I run a lot of highway. And I have the 3RZ as well.

You have 8" rear diff, and if you're IFS, a 7.5" front diff. If you're solid axle front, it would prob be an 8" as well. And Nitro gears are the best in my experience for Toyotas. JustDifferentials is the place to get them.

I'm not a fan of Yukon gears, and you mentioned the Spartan, that's an auto locker(lunchbox locker) similar to a Lockrite, but from what I've been told, it's better quality. I like the Aussie locker personally...

If you're ever going to get larger tires, go ahead and get 5.29s and just live with the higher highway RPMs for a bit. You don't want to have to regear later. And you wouldn't really have to with 35s but 5.29s take you back to an almost stock feel, but remember also, the bigger the tire the heavier it is. My Toyos barely changed my highway RPM, but it takes me a little longer to get up to speed cause they are heavy...

i'd guess that they mean 7.5" for the front tranxaxle, because you have an ifs truck(?), afaik it's not an 8" differential... 8" would certainly be for the rear axle.

$750 for a 7.5" spartan bolt-in locker combo at marlin crawler, not cheap.
