Fuel gauge recalibration

Does performing the TSB # EL010-99 to recalibrate the fuel gauge worth it? Does it improve the faulty reading? Can this be performed at any time or with no fuel, or just after reinstalling the sending unit.

Info about recalibration process,

sorry for posting a repeat, I did search for fuel gauge recalibration and did not find any post that gave me an answer. I did find a lot of information about changing the sending unit and so on, I filled out the NHTSA form and read many posts. This gauge issue is driving me crazy.

wow! I must have Alzheimer's. I completely forgot about me posting this thread that long ago. I run out of gas back in New Years Eve, to say the least, at 10:00pm. My gauge said I had 1/2 tank, but it was empty. Luckily I was close to a gas station. It was freezing cold. The station was closed, but pumps on. I dug into the trash and found two small 16oz juice bottles. I made three trips (six 16oz of gas) to fill her up just enough to turn around and go back. Arrived to the party with a great gas smell....
In any case, I was searching for threads on gauge problems and read my own thread....... 40 y/o and forgetting everything!!

recalibrating won't fix that, that's your everyday failed fuel level sender. Gonna need a new one.
