Front/Rear Spring Selection.

Im doing a SAS on my 88' and Im kinda on a budget but im not going to halfa** anything. Im new to sas and yota. Just looking to save money on my springs.

For my front, Can I basically use any leaf spring from any rig? Also, same goes for the back correct. but the back springs have to be larger than the front right. otherwise I wont sit level.

Just looking for a little help and some ideas.

thanks everyone, Casey

Search for "RUF" and Waggy's

You can def build your own springs. In my opinion, for the time and cost, its almost better to just buy a set of springs.

There's alot you can do with springs. Yes you can use about any spring but all come with different issues. The width of the springs plays a factor. As does the over length and the location on the springs that mount to the axle. Pinion angle, hanger relocation, location of axle to compared to stock.

Longer springs will give you more flex. My buddy went with rear chevies and frony allpro. He moved his rear and front axle to better fit his 37's , I went with Allpro and left my axles in stock location for the rear, front was pushed forward by spring design. He had to move his steering box.

Just search.

Sas

Here is a link to the Pirate4x4's Toyota bible:
http://www.pirate4x4.com/forum/showthread.php?t=775780

This forum has lots of SAS builds, with many different types of springs used.

Here is Muddpigg's SAS using Allpro's up front, and Marlin's in the rear. His rig sits nice and low, and is a machine on the trails. It would be nicer with 35's though ...(HINT...HINT)https://www.yotatech.com/forums/f152/carving-pigg-197745/

This may help when you move your steering box foward, and have to extend the steering shaft. This mod requires no cutting or welding:

Here is a photo of my1st gen 4runner with old 5.5" Allpro springs, and the axle moved forward about 3 inches in combo with the springs and hangers moved forward.

There is NO rubbing w/37's, and it sits relativly low.
