Front end noises
I have a 94 toyota 4x4 pickup with the auto hubs and i have some noise in my front drivers side. Theres a bit of a clunk when i hit bumps and its also got a bit of whining like the wheel bearing is bad when i turn right. I jacked it up and theres very little play in the wheelbearing, all the balljoints seem good. I did notice that the boot on the axle side closest to the diff is torn. Could a bad axle be my problem? Theres no clunking or clicking when its in 4x4 but i think there was some vibration the last time i drove it in 4x4 in a snowstorm.

Did you check the bottom balljoints with a prybar between the joint and the wheel? That, or use some large channel locks to compress every joint. The channel lock method is excellent for detecting ANY play in BJs.
When my CV joint went, it started with just the occasional clunk and over a couple weeks progressed to clicking, which was more pronounced during turning. Does the noise get worse when reversing at full lock?
Finally, how many miles/kms on your truck? At 440000kms, my lower control arm bushings started to go on one side, and liked to make a clunk over bumps, or during moderate turning.
Hope this helps.
