Hey all,

I'm rebuilding an '86 22re. I have a new Aisin oil pump and a new Toyota front crank seal that I'm about to install. After a bunch of internet'ing, I'm still feeling the need to ask what, if any, lubrication or sealant are people using when pressing the seal into the oil pump?

I'm not sure if either is necessary, but I've seen people mention using grease, some people using Permatex sealant, etc. and many posts that mention using nothing all.

If you have any experience / opinions with this, let me know!

 

Like you took note of all different ways.

I just put some assembly lube on the rubber part of the seal.

Something that will stay on for some time.

So if I don`t put it all together right then I don`t forget.

Since every one I ever changed got a new oil pump as well.

Know it is much easier to install the oil seal with the pump on the work bench
