frame bend/ hop help
hello all yota fans. ive just bought an 81 toyota p/u and when i first got it i new it had got hit by a drunk driver but i was never told about the frame being bent.
its not a drastic bend or anything like that but when i drive it feels like i have low tires because of the way it hops but i have good pressure and every thing like that. it doesnt not hops worse as i get speed, at 60 there is no pull to either side and a minor hop. between 10-35 it hops like im hitting a woop section at 80. i dont know what to do and spent all my money on this. please and thank you to any one with even a little bit it the right direction, or even advice on what to do. THANKSS

If it isnt bent hard, a frame shop isnt to bad on prices to get one straightened out. If it is to much to have it straightened out, a frame swap is easy to do. If you can pull a motor or remove a tranny, you have the skills to swap frames. I had a frame that was estimated $250 to have done and if I recall right it wound up costing $125.

if its scrubbing off tires it could be a terrible alignment as well. In my body shop lots of vehicles drive funny after getting smacked so they get alignments.
Unless you can visually see damage in your frame. Grab a tape measure and start measuring your frame to be sure there is actually frame damage. There bound to be a how to on the internet somewhere.

you didn't test drive the truck before buying it?
if you actually see frame issues, i would take it to a body shop, get an estimate to fix it.
it would be helpful if you posted pics of the damage, if you can actually see any damage.

If I remember right the redneck way is to measure the distance between body mounts right side to left side after you have placed a string with a center mark front and rear.
(ie) from the front of your frame rails attack a tight string across and mark you center point. Same thing on the rear. Then you can have a few buddy's help you hold a string tight down the middle of the truck in line with your center marks on the front and back string. From there just measure the distance between the body mounts to the center string. Right your results down and if there is a difference you should probably get a professional to check it out.
I think I said that in the worst way possible so if your not confused I'm impressed.
