finally joining the fam...
hey everyone. just got me a new (old) yota truck. 1988 22RE 4x4 5sp. of course its showing its age as of now but i already have a new floor rubber mat and other misc interior stuff on the way. i havent even gotten the plates for it yet either! hehe.
but i had some questions, of course it has an oil leak, but i recently cleaned the motor and im waiting to pinpoint the source. but im assuming it might be the oilpan gasket. is that a tough one to do? as far as mechanical ability on my part, im not worried at all. its mainly a time thing. ive built numerous european 'show' cars so im sure anything on the truck i can take care of.
also, i cant find for the life of me a place that sells other interior stuff, namely the door panel armrests. the ones that were on the truck are done for and i dont really wanna go to the stealership. any ideas?
one more thing...this truck came with the bench seat. well, needless to say, i keep getting stabbed in the back from the seat springs. what other year truck seats will fit in there?
thanks everyone...and ill be stopping in to update on my progress in restoring this thing. anyone here in Vegas wanna sell me some parts?
hehe

Welcome, and good luck, You will find the Toyota to be an easy truck to work on. If you have done european cars this will be a "piece of cake," Once you have all the right parts. Good luck and I will be looking for photo's. TJ

160k. water pump looks recent, as well as the head. maybe there was a valve job done recently along with the timing chain/guides. the kid i got it from didnt know too much about it...or about anything really. hehe.
but the motor is quiet and smooth. i did a retrofit with a volvo fan assembly and a DC controls motor controller on my buddy's 87 truck, i think i might go that route as well to quiet the airplane a lil bit.

If you get a new arm rest, PM strap22 on the boards and he gives great discounts on Toyota products, as well as lifts and other stuff. You can check out www.trdparts4u.com for their list of products. The discounts aren't on the site....but they offer them to Yotatech. Nice truck dude!
