Exhaust smell inside

The title says it.Happens when I'm driving down the road.I imagine it's coming through my fresh air vents. My guess is EGR.

I'm also getting a 24 DTC.Is that the "no injector pulse"code or a regular TC?

Could also explain the knock.Anything with a selenoid controlled EGR valve should have a knock module. If I were to have a leak I would smell the exhaust anytime the engine was trying to cool itself. And the escaping gas would not be able to lower combustion temps resulting in the knock. But Toyotas are funny that way. Before it only happened when I first layed on the gas.Now it does it alot.Ofcourse the valves have never been adjusted.Do 22REs suffer from valve lash?

i had a strong exhaust smell in the cab of my '76 blazer - turned out to be from (mainly from) a leaky exhaust pipe directly under the cab.
