Ex- cab body on single cab frame?

I recently bought an 89 pickup thats been on its side, has body damage pretty bad, but got glass back in it so its no big deal for now. I was wondering if its possible to put an Ex-cab body on the short wheelbase frame?? then just bob the front of the bed pretty much all the way to the wheel wells. Im sure i could just go out and play with the tape measure for a while but was just wondering if anyone has done this before??

Here is one, '85 pickup

Bobbed bed in front and in back.

The '89 x-cab will be about 19" longer than the std. cab, so more bobbing is needed, plus moving the rear cab mount brkts.

Realize the above photo is of an '85 model where the xcab is about 9" longer than the std. cab. On your 3rd gen, the difference is more like 19", so the cab will indeed end closer to the rear wheels by that much more, i.e. 10" closer than the above photo.

From: Nashville TN. I can help you if you're close BUT NOBODY CAN HELP YOU IF YOU DON'T FILL YOUR LOCATION IN!
Do it... But dear lord I'd make mine a flatbed so I had way less headaches...

And if you do a flatbed, a word to the wise... Make it 100% out of steel...

I have a steel framed but wood planked flatbed on my truck, so there is NO weight on the back of it... My seat is puckered on up to my colon at the sight of a dark cloud... If I could get out, it'd sound like tearing Velcro...

If it's raining, and I'm driving my truck, I look like that guy in The Great Outdoors... That's been struck by lightning s s s s s... 66! times!

HAHAAH!!! yeah i was thinking a flatbed with my lockbox up front in the middle and spare back behind that, Along with a bob in the back i think it would look pretty sweet. I was looking at the picture more after i last posted and i think it will work, going to be a close one though! im only running 31s now but thinking 35s in the future and thats where i might run into problems with clearance with the tires.

the tacoma they did on the ttora forums ended up having to tub the corner of the cab to clear the rear wheel when it was all the way up. i can't wait to get the hand-me-down single cab tacoma some day so i can do this. after having an xcab you just can't go back to a single. in regards to the bed, what i planned was a sweet flatbed with removable sides from made from the old bed. this way, you can still haul something like mulch in the back and then take it off to forklift something from the side. if i've got a truck it's gotta keep its ability to haul things.
