Engnbldr.com....good or bad?

I know there is a lot of post relating to this topic but I want to know as and all around company if they have good products. Has anybody had really good luck with them or some really big problems.

I have spent a good part of my day on the phone with a few machine shops and a couple competitors of Engnbldr. Almost all of them said Engnbldr had cheap parts that don't last r that Engnbldr was lying about the performance gains you will get with his produces and not to buy them but to buy what they are selling instead. I wanna know if that true or if these people are just trying to take my money.

YT people lets hear your opinions and thoughts. Engnbldr good or bad?

Both

Customer service is top notch and there down right nice genuine people. They have a done a lot for the Toyota aftermarket and keeing the older generation trucks on the road.

They source there products from many different places (Rock Products) and package them for resale in a lot of different kit forms. In my opnion, the parts are on par for the price. There not OEM prices, so don't expect OEM quality.

It would be best to your own homework and reading. Seacrh on here and you shuould have hours of reading, that is how you should base your opnion. A thread on this topic will not be very good because you will only get opnions and little fact.

Just my 2 cents...

GOOD IMO,

Running the Street RV head, 261C cam, Head bolts, timing kit all from him, I don't have anything bad to say about them. What your hearing from other shops alot of times, is just what they want you to think to sell products. Now thats not to say they are better or worse then engnbldr. I choose to order my parts from there, simply because I read very good reviews and To support a member of the forums, as Ted contributes here on yotatech,

I LOVE MY ENGBLDR.COM MOTOR !!! ITS only got 3k miles on it but it runs like a champ i kinda rushed the cam break in and didnt even give the motor the long break in most people recommend . I wasnt racing it around or nothing but i had to drive it to work the next day so it was out of pure need that i didnt break it in as slow as others have . I bought the engine kit ,cam and head and its all running good a pretty quiet for not changing the valve adjuster screws . It burned a little oil at first but no it doesnt burn a drop and i drive it everyday . wheel it every weekend and im about to start towing my malibu skier with it .

Red face

I have used there stuff since 1999 when I got back into Toyota vehicles.

Ted has always been great with answers to questions .

If I lived closer I would get in house machine work done.

Some people will say anything to sell you the same products only the products in question are better if bought from them!!

See nothing but good is what I am finding. I think the guy at the machine shop didn't know what he was talking about.

That's like calling AT&T and asking them if Verizon sells good services. Of course they're going to tell you not to buy from Engnbldr.

My point is the biased opinion.

With all of the good feedback out there, I wouldn't hesitate to place an order with Engnbldr. If you do for some reason have a problem, their customer service is great, which is why they still receive good feedback even if there is a mishap.

I researched a lot before getting my timing chain set and went with them. fantastic customer service (I was shipped some extra parts I didn't know were to be used for and Ted figured it out right away).

Yes, it's not OEM quality, but "bang for the buck" it's heads and shoulders above what's out there, when you consider the service and the tenure they have in the industry. Hell, look around here...who HASN'T used them at least once for something

Some day I'll get a cam and maybe a head/cam from him when I have to rebuild.

Would I buy his stuff again? in a heartbeat.

I have never bought anything from Engnbldr.com but I will some day. It impressed me when Ted and his son have answered emails over the weekend before that I have sent.
Most shops you are lucky to get a reply a couple of days later.
I plan on having them rebuild my early 22R head sometime. I am lucky that they are sort of local to me

reliability wise...almost 2 years later, no problems.

again, probably going to be hard to accurately gauge an opinion to answer what you are asking based on a thread like this. It's just by chance that I saw this thread. but my experience was all positive.

from emailing back and forth with Ted prior to placing my order to asking him a newb panicked question about setting up the oil pump .....to which he replied promptly and appropriately (as in, he did not laugh at me).

believe me, customer service is a huge part of my job. making sure you have and sell a quality product is the rest. the Ford salesman is always going to tell you why it's better than Toyota. before I would ever put any belief in what someone is telling me negative I would want them to qualify and quantify that statement. otherwise, it's of no value and just sounds like sour grapes.

engnbldr has the complete package......customer service AND quality products. If Ted and Todd were receiving negative feedback regarding their products I am sure they would investigate and consider sourcing from a different manufacturer.

It sounds to me like engnbldr has cost a cost effective approach. Your shop is correct when he seas that he can get better parts, but how much more will it cost you? There are other advantages of going local if there are warranty issues. If your local guy is good enough he may be worth a little more money. If you don't know anything about the local guy then it sounds like engnbldr's reputation, experience and service may be a bargain.
2 cents
