Driveshaft is really close to gas tank

Whats going on everybody? Im new to this forum and not sure if im posting in the correct location. I just picked up a 93 extended cab v6 4x4. My problem is that my rear drive shaft is so close to my gas tank that i cant even fit my finger between the two. Is this normal or is something wrong. I'm sure i cant be the first with this problem but the search feature isn't coming up with any answers. Any help would be greatly appreciated. I can post pictures if needed, but my problem is pretty self-explanatory. Thanks all

Are the rear tires roughly centered side-side under the wheel wells? If so, could be the gas tank skid plate may have been pushed in towards the center somehow. But as long as the two don't make contact, then is is probably OK.
