Does an automatic locker lock in reverse?

Im not sure how stupid this question is, but, I recently installed a detroit locker in the front of my 86 pickup. The other day, I attempted to pull a 5 ton forklift out of some soft dirt and in doing so I noticed my front right wheel slipping. So, my question is does an automatic locker such as the one I have lock in reverse, or is something wrong?

The lock rite that was in the rear of my 69 gmc 4x4 stayed locked forward and reverse unless it was in a turn.

An auto locker locks whenever torque is applied, forward or reverse.
