differential leaking
hey guys, so far from my last thread i was able to do alot of work to the truck and fixed my valves, they were a bit tight, thanks for the input. But now it seems i have another problem, turns out on my rear end, i have some differential fluid leaking. Its not coming from the axles, but where the driveshaft links up to the rear ends, the bolts are tight so idk what the deal is....
any help?

Thank you, 4Crawler!
Rear diff:
Make sure all the bolts are tightened. Then, you will need a new gasket or FIPG.

thanks ya'll. I managed to take to driveshaft off and i took the flange off. My pinion seal was shot! Almost as soon as i changed that seal and drove it, i saw that it was now leaking from the axle seals....

well, if you ever end up leaking from the gasket between the 3rd and the diff, check out my diy link i my signature below - it's not that hard....just be sure to let the gasket seal overnight before putting in NEW oil

NOOB question! How are you pre-loading the bearing in there? Won't it fail down the road if it's not at the proper torque? I have the same problem; my tech buddy says it's a tough DIY to get it right. He suggests I pick up a whole new 3rd member for $20 at the parts yard and pop that on, with the seal in it already!
Pros = time saver. Cons: you don't know if the 'new' diff will also leak...

Good to know! It was an honest question on my part - ppl say "you have to take it to Toyota and have them do it"...that part I didn't like hearing. There is ALWAYS a work-around. I'd take the chance and do it this way, for sure.
