Differential breather

Differential breather

I was looking around the forums for some differential breather setup pics I have a 89 pick up with a straight axle conversion but my rear diff breather is gone just a hole in the housing need some info on where to get parts and what I need to get I will try to post a pic of what I have in a bit but I am sure someone here knows exactly what I need to get to fix it thanks and also front and rear diff breather extending info

Take the stock breather out so you dont drop any debris into the axle housing
put the stock breather in a vise and take a pair of pliers and you can work of the
cap thats just clamped on around the breather and it reveals a nipple like the one
shown on 4crawlers page than just get some tubing and a hose clamp and your set. Don't even have to worry about threading in because came off that axle

His problem is that he doesn't have the stock breather in there at all.

Simpler answer use one of these part numbers and attach a preferred length rubber hose and a universal oil breather filter on the end.

Nissan Part number 38323-C6010

Toyota 90404-51319: for 3/8” Barb
Toyota 90404-51026: for 1/4” hose
Nissan 38323-C6010: for 3/16” hose


or a standard 1/8" NPT to 1/4" hose barb fitting. as 4crawler mentioned it's not a perfect fit but his worked well.

Toyota part number for the OEM breather is 90930-03031

Ace Hardware has that fitting for like a dollar. and some sturdy hose for around a dollar a foot. I got some 12mm id hose from work for free and then the fitting, works great.
