Cylinder leak-down test virgin needs advice

94 4x4 22RE x-tra cab

I have an overheating problem (see Hilux forum). I am about to perform a leak-down test on cyl #2, but I have not done this before. Any tips on how to proceed?

Remove the plugs and screw the adapter into the hole on #2. Set it at tdc on the compression stroke so that both valves are closed and pressurize to 60 - 80 psi. Listen to where the air is escaping. Intake means the intake valve is leaking, exhaust means exhaust valve, adjacent cylinder is a blown headgasket and oil filler cap means rings.
