Crankshaft Bolt-Help!!!!!

I am in the processs of rebuilding my engine, I have it out, intake and exhaust off, head off, now I am trying to get the timing cover off. First off is to pull off the harmonic balancer? My questions is, there is a bolt in the center surounded by 4 other little bolts, when I try to take this center bolt off my engine just turns over, I stick a bar in the holes in the pulley, and it bent a 1/2 inch thick bar trying to break it free and still wouldnt budge. How do I take this bolt off. Please help!!!!!

Take off the oil pan and wedge a block of wood between the crankshaft/rod and the block.

Edit: use an impact wrench if you have one.

I used a piece of angle iron. I drilled a hole in it and bolted it to the pulley with one of those 4 bolts. Get someone to hold it and use a breaker bar to undo the large center bolt. Hope this is clear. Good luck.

I did the same thing as Green93. Works good. If you have a manual, you can try parking it in gear.
