Here is a question I'm sure many have heard before but I was curious anyway.. since I have a 98 4RUN SR5 I would like to up date some of the body work to a 2002 is there anything I can't modify to a 98 that I can up date to a 2002 i.e bumper suspension, fenders flares, interior, dashboard, etc etc.. If that is possible could anyone point me in the right direction for parts and such. Also anyway to make the thing get more gas mileage? don't get me wrong I don't mind getting 300-320 to a tank but would be nice to get more.

most of it will transfer... i dont know if I'd personally swap the bumpers, I like the look of the 96-98 better, same on the grille. Definately consider the swap for the the tail lights, console area, and hood (for the scoop). besides that... i dont know if id swap a stock setup for a stock setup suspension wise unless there was something to gain (like a little height from the highlander 4runners).... my $0.02

 

I wouldnt change the under carrage as far as that goes im looking to put fender flares on change the hood and put a grille guard on it maybe wheel spacers and some off road 16's. interior wise id like to change the console and the dash. I have already started changing some lights on it to LED, and replaced some missing parts(I.E. skid plates, engine guard). I was wondering if there was anything I couldnt switch or swap?

 

watch the grille guards... 96-98 wont work on a 99+, but 99+ will work on a 96-98, however they look a little odd (due to bumper differences).

 

Just curious...what are the benefits of doing this? I could see why some would change the fender flares (I have a '98 Limited and HATE the wide fender flares on mine) but other than that......
