Check engine light question

Hi all, I'm new here. I did a search and didn't find anything helpful so here goes...I have a 1990 4runner with the 22RE engine and after removing and cleaning the battery terminals the "Engine" light came on. I have a Haynes manual and it says to jump the TE and T1 ports in the diagnostic block and count the flashes, but the light stays on steady. I then removed the EFI relay to hopefully reset the light as per the manuals instructions but the light is still on steady. The truck runs fine. Any thoughts why the light is on and/or won't go out? Thanks in advance guys.

I thought it was the T1 and E1 terminals.... may need to double check and make sure you're jumpering the correct terminals... when you do, with the key in and turned to the run position, without it running, it should flash.
