check engine light

Ok so this is it my check engine light goes on after about 5 minutes of using my ac so i turn it off and after about 30-60 seconds the light goes off and stays off as long as i keep the ac off if not the light pops back on again. Anyone has any idea what the problem is?

I think I might have an idea.

But first, what year/model/engine type are we talking about?

Second, have you checked for codes?

Oh an 86, then you can do it yourself for free, with a paper clip.

Jump the check connectors, then see if the check engine light displays any codes. If it blinks steadily without stopping there are none.

To decipher the flashes into codes read the following. Just ignore the part about TE1 because it used to be called T, and the codes because they're for a 93. Other than that the procedure is the same.
